Homage

This poster serves as a focused study and homage to Mitsuo Katsui, whose work has profoundly shaped the fields of graphic design and visual poetry. The primary goal was to internalise his principles of dynamic composition, vibrant colour interaction, and geometric play, and then re-interpret them through the lens of Risograph printing.

The design is a deliberate emulation of Katsui's style, built from layered, rhythmic forms and buoyant shapes. However, the intention was always filtered through the Riso medium. The colour separation was planned to exploit the charming imperfections and vibrant overlaps of the Risograph, allowing the machine's character to become an active collaborator in the tribute. The result is not a replica, but a conversation—a piece that speaks in Katsui's visual dialect while using a contemporary voice.

Ultimately, this work is a celebration of influence. It acknowledges Katsui's enduring impact by engaging with his methodology, proving the continued relevance of his innovative spirit in new graphic contexts.
